A Scripture Reading Plan
American Diocese of The Indian Orthodox Church
Mathews Mar Barnabas, Diocesan Metropolitan
The Entire New Testament, Proverbs Ecclesiastes and Psalms are arranged to be covered this year. The
Readings for Sundays and Special days of the Liturgical Year are given in brackets.
Find a suitable time to read the Bible daily. Either read all passages at one time or some in the morning and the rest in the evening. Make a
rule for yourself and keep it. Meditate on the Scriptures day and night.
A prayer before reading the Bible:
Illumine my heart and mind, O Lord, that I may understand the holy scriptures. Strengthen my will, that I may
follow Your commandments, to the glory of Your all Holy Name, and the salvation of my soul; for You are the Illuminator of souls, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now, always and for ever. Amen.
I praise you, LORD! Teach me your
laws. Point out your rules to me, and I wont disobey even one of them. Your word is a lamp that gives light wherever I walk. [Psalm 119: 12, 33 & 105 - Contemporary English Version, ABS]
