Our Church
St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church
of Los Angeles, is one of the
forty-four churches in the Southwest American Diocese that belong to the Malankara Orthodox Church of India.
We are located in the heart of Los Angeles in the city of
Montebello. The church has been in existence since 1975. Our
Diocesan Bishop is H.G. Alexios Mar Eusebius and our vicar is Rev.
Fr. Yohannan Panicker.

Christmas Caroling
December 5, 6 & 12 December 5th
- Bellflower, Norwalk, Cerritos, Long Beach, Cypress, Buena
Park areas. December 6th - Harbor City, Torrance, Rancho Palos
Verdes, Culver City and nearby areas. December 12th - San Fernando Valley, Glendale,
Arcadia, Fontana, Chino HIlls, Diamond Bar, Corona, Temecula
and Brea areas.
Christmas Program
Sun., December 13th @ 3:30pm
Bellflower Civic Auditorium This years Christmas
Program will be held at the Bellflower Civic Auditorium on
Sunday, December 13th from 3:30 to 8pm. We invite all our
families and friends to join us in the celebration "Miracle
of Christmas" program. The coordinator Dr. Elizabeth
Varughese (Rekha), says that the event will be memorable so
don't miss it.

Diocesan Bishop
H.G. Alexios Mar Eusebius Visits LA
Our
diocesan Bishop, H.G. Alexios Mar Eusebios visited Los
Angeles from September 19 to 23rd. A welcome ceremony
was held for him along by the members. After the Holy
Qurbana a public meeting was held to honor His Grace and
welcoming him to our church. Please see pictures from
the event.
Church Picnic
This year's picnic was held on Saturday, August 22nd at
Cerritos Park East. The coordinators for the event was
Dr. Elizabeth Varughese and Dr. Nebu John. The event
was a huge success with many families attending and having a
lots of fun. There were many games for the young to
the old. The varieties of games had the members all
staying until the very end. It was a great day to get
all our families out and enjoy a beautiful day out and
relax. Everyone enjoyed the delicious lunch and all
the snacks and fruits. We thank all our families that
assisted in making this event a success.

New Church Project
It
is with great pleasure to inform all our members on the
purchase of our new church in Whittier. With all your
prayers and continuous support, we are able to move to the
next level in our church history. We have a lot more
work to complete before we move into our new home so please
continue to pray for this project and it's progress.
We thank Mr. Thomas Philip, Building Committee Chairman for
his dedicated efforts in managing this project to complete
the purchase. The Building Committee has many
challenges ahead to complete the remaining tasks and help
move our parish to our new place of worship. Please
pray for the group that is leading the work and encourage
them and provide your support. Again, congratulations
to the members of St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Syrian
Church of Los Angeles in achieving this great milestone.

Sunday School starts at 9am so please bring your children on time!
OVBS
2009 2009 Western Region
OVBS was held at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Los
Angeles. Many students attended the event including
members of St. Mary's Orthodox Church of San Fernando
Valley.

Easter
This years Easter Service and
festivities took place on April 12th.
The service was conducted by Fr. Mathew Philipose and Fr.
Yohannan Panicker. An Easter message was given by Mr.
George Mathew to inspire the audience. Easter Egg
Hunting was held for the children after the Holy Qurbana.
A feast for all the members and friends concluded the event.
Palm Sunday
This
year's Palm Sunday Service was held on Sunday, April 5th.
The service was very well attended and blessed palm leaves
were taken home by the members. This year the
procession had some additional colors since some of our
members donated flags and umbrellas to make it
beautiful. We thank all those that donated the items.
The service concluded with a vegetarian lunch after the Holy
Qurbana.
